---------------------------------------- ACross Version 1.1 README File January 1996 ---------------------------------------- (C) Copyright by Pavel Popov, 1996 ---------------------------------- To replace ACross version 1.0 with version 1.1 copy all files over the old ones. To transfer the reference data from version 1.0 read the Changes notes before upgrading the application. ---------------------------------- Changes: 02-17-96 Error 53 File not found This error occurs when the file bc40rtl.dll not found. Across.dll doesn't need bc40rtl.dll in version 1.1. 02-18-96 All cross reference data is moved into acrdta.mdb. This database file should be in the ACCESS directory. Now it is possible to create and store archives of the cross reference data. IMPORTANT! For those who are currently using ACross 1.0! To copy data from ACross 1.0 copy acrdta.mdb in ACCESS directory, open it and run macro ImportData before copying ACROSS.MDA version 1.1 over the old one if you want to keep your reference data. Open any table in acrdta.mdb to check if there is some data in it. 02-18-96 Getting declarations for queries now works much faster. 02-18-96 All 10 possible arguments are checking now in macros. 02-19-96 Checking for unused objects now can parse objects with the same type and the same name (Form Functions) when one has references and another doesn't ---------------------------------- The ACROSS.HLP file supplied with ACross contains complementary and late-breaking information about the ACross product. To view this file, double-click its name in the File Manager program. ACross is a MS Access 2.0 add-in tool you can use to: - find all unused objects you have created but don't need anymore; - list all references to all objects including usage in Forms, Reports, Macros, Queries, Tables, as well as Modules and Code Behind Forms; - switch among all databases currently loaded including libraries, without quitting Access; - display many statistics, such as number of lines in all functions; - identify duplicate declarations for API functions in all libraries and databases; ACross runs on the IBM PC family of computers with memory and processor power enough to work with MS Access 2.0 under MS Windows 3.1, 3.11. ACross comes on a ZIP file - ACROSS10.ZIP which contains the following files: ACROSS.MDA - copy this file into your MS Access directory (the directory where you have your Access installed, which has msaccess.exe, system.mda, utility.mda files). ACRDTA.MDA - copy this file into your MS Access directory. If you have ACross 1.0 installed and running check the note in the Changes section about how to move your data! ACROSS.HLP - copy it into WINDOWS directory (the directory you have your Windows 3.1 installed). ACROSS.DLL - copy it into \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. README.TXT - some instruction about what is new in the current version and how to install it. After you have done this, start MS Access, open any data base you want to check for cross references and use your Add-In manager. To accomplish this go to File\Add-ins and then click on Add-in Manager. If you have copied ACROSS.MDA in to your Access directory you will see "Access Cross Reference" in the list of Add-Ins. Select this line and click on Install button. A small cross check mark appears to the left of the application name. Close Add-in Manager and restart your Access for the changes to take effect. If you for some reason don't like to work with Add-in Manager you can install ACross manually by updating your MSACC20.INI file by following these steps: - In the [Libraries] section add an entry for the ACROSS.MDA library database: ACROSS.MDA=RW - In the [Menu Add-ins] section add the line: ACross==pfFrmOpenMain() The next time you start Access there will be a new menu item in File\Add-ins menu - ACross. Click on it to start ACross and follow the instruction on the screen. You may want to check Getting Started section in the ACROSS.HLP file (Press F1 on the ACross Mail Form and go to Contents) for a detail explanation of what is happening during the start time. ACross is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of another system. The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products. If you find this program useful and find that you are using ACross and continue to use ACross after a 30 day trial period, you must make a registration payment of $29.95 to the author at the address below. The $29.95 registration fee will license one copy for use on any one computer at any one time.
